Rosaceae

This family includes herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. The flowers are always radially symmetrical and they have many stamens (except when selected and bred so that petals replace stamens) but they show wide variation in other features:

  • petals present or absent
  • ovary superior or inferior
  • fruits fleshy or dry, simple or agregate, with one to many seeds

Examples include strawberry, cinquefoil, apple, plum, cherry and of course rose.
