Caprifoliaceae


This family includes mostly woody vines and trees. The inferior ovary has three to five carpels. Other features include:

  • opposite leaves without stipules
  • inferior ovary
  • fleshy fruits, berries or drupes.

Examples include viburnums (such as Viburnum dilatatum), honeysuckles (such as Lonicera japonica), elders (such as Sambucus canadensis), and Abelia grandiflora
