Chionanthus virginicus
Fringe Tree

The fruits of Fringe Tree only occur on female shrubs (and therefore a male pollinator is needed), and transition from the hidden green immature fruits of early Summer to attractive purple-blue fruits that are relished by the birds in late Summer.
