The wispy, lime-colored inflorescences of Boxelder sway easily in the breezes of early Spring. Most trees and shrubs that bloom in early spring are wind-pollinated, especially those that do not have ornamentally appealing inflorescences (that is, flowers without either fragrance or showy petals).
