Boxelder

Boxelder, a maple that serves as a pioneer invader species of wastelands, fencerows, floodplains, and cut-over areas, rarely has a symmetrical shape with a rounded crown, as shown here. Its growth habit is often asymmetrical, leaning, and subject to storm damage with age.
