Betula papyrifera
Paper Birch

The bark of Paper Birch is so named because it can be peeled off in large sheets (like paper), sometimes revealing a red-orange interior bark (not shown here). With age, the bark on mature trees becomes splotched with gray and black hues, creating a contrasting effect.
