Aucuba japonica
Japanese Aucuba

Japanese Aucuba is a dioecious species, and both genders need to be planted in relatively close proximity to ensure fruit production on the female plants. The shiny, bright red, ellipsoid fruits are showy and persist throughout the Winter, but are partially hidden by the large evergreen foliage.
