The key to beautiful flowering with most shrubs is to leave them unsheared, and let floral buds set on the terminal or lateral buds with the plant growing in a normal growth habit at a normal growth rate. If shrubs must be cut back or sheared, do so within two weeks of flowering completion, so that ample time is allowed for some floral buds to set for the following year.
