Spiderwort prefers light shade and even moisture throughout the growing season. Cultivars are usually hybrids of species native to North America, usually with Tradescantia virginiana as one parent. This perennial can spread liberally underground and invade nearby plants. Cut its top growth back in mid-Summer if it becomes ratty looking, and it will return with fresh foliage and possible rebloom later in the season.
