The feather-like linear leaves of Bald Cypress occur on deciduous branchlets, and appear (even upon close inspection) to be pinnately compound. The complex of leaves and branchlets abscisce in Autumn with a warm cinnamon-orange fall color, revealing a spiral arrangement of Winter buds on the twigs.
