Santolina chamaecyparissus
Lavender Cotton

The silvery leaves of Lavender Cotton release a unique fragrance if rubbed. This tender perennial (to zone 6) is often sheared into a compact shape to enhance its attractive foliage, and is a favorite of knot gardens, rock gardens, bed edgings, walls forcascading, or as a foliage specimen. A mulch helps protect it in zone 5 where it may survive some mild Winters.
