As a typical composite inflorescence, the individual flowers of Orange Coneflower are composed of the golden to yellow-orange ray flowers, and the brown-black disk flowers. While it is tempting to assign these features the descriptive names of "petals" and "eye", neither is accurate, as microscopic examination of the dissected structures will reveal.
