Ohio Buckeye usually has five leaflets per leaf, united in a palmately compound fashion, with the leaflets obovate, lightly serrated, having acute apices, and not fused where they join the top of the leaf petiole. The fruits have a prickly husk when they are immature, but round off to a knobby globe at maturity.
