The leaves of Chestnut Oak are appropriately named, bearing a striking resemblance to members of the genus Castanea (chestnuts). Chestnut Oak leaves are much wider, longer, and thicker than their closest Oak counterpart in morphology, namely Chinkapin Oak (Quercus muehlenbergii).
