White Oak, an important hardwood timber tree of the eastern United States, displays variation in the depth of the sinuses of its leaves, as well as the amount of red in its fall color (due to hybridization with other members of the White Oak Group). Here, the appearance of long finger-like lobes is due to the intervening sinuses being both wide and deep.
