The low and prominent branches on this young Callery Pear make it difficult to limb-up the tree with age, since these strongly ascending branches form increasingly large sectors of the canopy, that, if removed, would create gaping holes. These same limbs are also very storm-prone, and may become subject to wind shear or ice storm breakage with age.
