Platanus occidentalis
American Planetree

American Sycamore achieves its greatest glory as a mature specimen in Winter, when its barren trunks and branches display their ornamental bark within the massive canopy. Although tolerant of dry sites, it prefers damp to wet areas, and can often be found in the wild lining creeks and rivers.
