Dragon's Eye Pine (there are two versions, the other being Pinus thunbergii 'Oculus-draconis') is known for its uniquely yellow-banded needles, creating a ringed-needle effect when the branches are viewed from above on the specimen dwarf tree. Unfortunately, the striking yellow variegation from spring to autumn fades by winter, and may even winter-burn or discolor to an ugly yellow-brown during the dormant season. |
