Beet-like in appearance, the reddish-purple basal leaves of Husker Red Beardtongue are a strong accent in the sunny perennial garden, and are semi-evergreen in mild winters. Husker Red Beardtongue was the Perennial Plant Association's "Plant of the Year" in 1996.
