It is hard to beat Common Sundrops (and closely related species) when they are in flower, as a splash of lemon yellow blossoms in the early Summer landscape. This species is sometimes listed as Oenothera youngii or Oenothera fruticosa, and its most popular cultivar is 'Fireworks'.
