Magnolia virginiana
Sweetbay Magnolia

The red-orange fruits of Sweetbay Magnolia are not considered ornamental, and are sparsely borne in late Summer and early Autumn. Because of their contorted shape, they are sometimes mistaken for a red fungal mass.
