Junipers exhibit at least one of their three possible types of foliage; in this image of Hetz Columnar Chinese Juniper stems, the type of leaf known as scale is the predominate form of foliage (giving the stems a reptilian, or "scale-like" covering). Scales, by comparison, are also the predominate form of evergreen foliage on arborvitae (Thuja), but should not be confused with the insects that plague Euonymus and many other plants. |
