The old-fashioned selections of Coral Bells usually had a marbled character to the leaves, in the form of streaks or flecks of silver among the otherwise green foliage, which could be argued as a subtle and different form of variegation; however, many of the modern cultivars are purple- and silver-foliaged forms.
