Helleborus orientalis
Lenten Rose

The early flower of Lenten Rose is usually nodding, and may be various shades of cream, violet, lavendar, rose, or dark lavendar-red. The showy portion is the five sepals, which may be dotted, stippled, or lined on the inside (but not so in this image). The light green to chartreuse, miniature petals are almost invisible and may be mistaken for aborted stamens at the base of the actual stamens.
