False Sunflower is one of the best medium- to large-sized perennials (four to five feet tall) for heavy flowering throughout the summer, having golden-yellow, semi-double inflorescences. Deadheading prolongs bloom until frost, and shearing the stems back almost halfway in late spring delays flowering by about two weeks, but promotes a well-branched perennial that does not lodge by late season.
