Halesia tetraptera
Carolina Silverbell

The fruits of Carolina Silverbell become fairly conspicuous by mid-Summer, when their unusual shape and lime green color become apparent. Formerly known as Halesia carolina, the new specific epithet of tetraptera (four-winged) distinguishes its fruits from those of another species (Halesia diptera, Two-winged Silverbell).
