Forsythia x intermedia

Forsythia, while stunning in flower, is generally much too big for foundation plantings; in this case, pruning must be accomplished immediately after bloom is completed, to contain the shrub and to allow time for the vigorous new growth to set floral buds by mid-June for the following year's flowering.
