'Schwedleri' is the oldest cultivar of Norway Maple that has purple-red foliage in early Spring, but fades the most rapidly to a dark green by early Summer. It is the parent of 'Deborah' and 'Crimson King' (with the latter being the progenitor of 'Crimson Sentry'), and is the most rounded to wide-spreading of the purple-leafed forms at maturity.
