Diospyros virginiana
Persimmon

While its younger branches have a relatively smooth and striated appearance, older branches and the trunk of Persimmon have a rough bark that is characterized by longitudinal fissures separated by square to rectangular blocks of increasing thickness, becoming darker gray and quite distinctive with age.
