American Beautyberry

 

While its lavendar fruits are spectacular in autumn, American Beautyberry (shown here) is the least cold hardy of the four common species. Arranged from least hardy (zone 7) to most hardy (zone 5) are the following species: <i>Callicarpa americana</i>, <i>C. bodinieri</i>, <i>C. japonica</i>, and <i>C. dichotoma</i>.
